Freeform Day 1

Dive into the world of Freeform Modelling in Vectorworks, where you'll discover the powerful parametric tools that allow you to create both functional and avant-garde designs. Starting with basic 3D modelling techniques, you'll progress to advanced tools and commands such as Subdivision, NURBS, and Loft, enabling you to bring your most imaginative ideas to life.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn fundamental and advanced techniques for creating and transforming geometric shapes and intricate designs.
  • Apply deformation tools for creative variations and use subdivision for smooth, organic forms.
  • Use surface arrays and lofting techniques to generate intricate patterns and connect multiple curves.
  • Gain proficiency in custom working planes and apply NURBS for precise modelling.
  • Create efficient 2D and 3D hybrid objects for streamlined design processes.

Rendering Day 2

Rendering in Vectorworks is like cooking, where various ingredients come together to create the perfect scene, each unique in its own way. This course will teach you the critical rendering elements, including textures, lighting, and Renderworks styles. By the end, you'll have the knowledge to craft your own rendering recipes, mastering tools like the Lighting Toolset and the numerous options of Renderworks Styles to tailor your rendering to your specific needs.
 

Learning Objectives

  • Learn to utilise and customise Renderworks Styles and create unique lighting effects.
  • Understand the use of directional, point, spot, and glow lights to enhance scene realism.
  • Develop skills in creating both image-based and procedural textures to enhance material realism.
  • Discover how to create image props and master camera placement for effective scene framing.
  • Combine lighting, texturing, and camera techniques to create a fully rendered scene from scratch.
 

Prerequisites

  • Attendees must have a general understanding of Vectorworks basic drafting concepts.
  • Completion of the Vectorworks Core Concepts class or on-demand of the Vectorworks Core Associate Certification is highly recommended.
  • A working knowledge of the 3D environment in Vectorworks is essential.
  • Laptop with the latest version of Vectorworks installed.

CREDITS

For most industry bodies, structured training counts towards your required CPD hours, but please check your own membership to confirm.

Additional Information

Coffee and snacks will be provided for all attendees. 

We may be able to provide a computer upon request for this training on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, we encourage participants to bring their laptop computer with the software installed. The software may either be your registered licence , or you may obtain and install an evaluation copy before arriving for the course. We will not issue refunds due to malfunctions of software installed on personal laptops. The course instructor is not available or responsible for troubleshooting or servicing personal laptops, nor is the trainer responsible for technical problems experienced during the course due to individual computer hardware or software malfunctions. Detailed information on downloading the software will be emailed and found in your registration confirmation. 

Refund and Cancellation policy

Due to limited seating, class registration fees are non-refundable. However, upon request, your purchase can be used towards purchasing a future class. Classes may be subject to cancellation. Cancellations are determined by five (5) business days before the class starts. Registrants will be notified by email, and a full refund will be issued in the event of a cancellation.
