Description

Vectorworks Landmark offers a suite of tools and commands designed to aid the design and development of projects using object-based parametric modeling. This class will walk students through the tools and commands needed to create a concept model and a simplified 3D schematic. Students will then refine and expand that model into a more detailed, datarich design, culminating in the production of reports and construction documentation.

Through interactive exercises, students will gain in-depth knowledge of the applicable Vectorworks Landmark tools and commands and begin to develop effective design practices.

Learning Objectives

  •  Learn how to import survey data into Vectorworks Landmark and create a Site Model.
  • Create and understand sectional views of the site model to aid in design and documentation.
  • Understand the use of plants in Vectorworks Landmark and learn to create and customize plant symbols.
  • Design and customize Landscape Areas for efficient representation of plantings.
  • Learn to create and use worksheets for data organization, calculations, and efficient project management.
  • Document and present your project on sheet layers.

Prerequisites

  • Attendees should have general computer skills and a good grasp of fundamental drafting concepts, including drawing plans, elevations, document scale, and drawing units.
  • Completing the Vectorworks Core Concepts class or the Vectorworks Core Associate Certification course will help you prepare for this class.
  • Laptop with an activated license of Vectorworks Landmark or Design Suite 2026. Upon request, a temporary evaluation license can be issued for use during this class.

Let’s face it! Grading happens! Join us for a comprehensive overview of site grading, where we explore how to use Vectorworks’ advanced tools to grade a site accurately and efficiently. In this class, we will transform a simple schematic design into detailed grading plans, utilizing site modifiers, walls, hardscapes, stakes, and other elements.

Once the grading is finished, you will learn best practices and plant design workflows in Vectorworks Landmark 2026. Experience the speed of the Plant Manager, along with new plant search and graphics features.

Develop the skills and knowledge needed to handle the challenges of site grading and achieve excellent results in your projects.

Prerequisites

Participants should be comfortable navigating the Vectorworks interface and using basic 2D tools and commands. Completing the Vectorworks Core Concepts in-person course or the Vectorworks Core Associate Certification on-demand course is recommended preparation.

Attendees should already know how to use the Navigation palette to create and manage classes, design layers, viewports, and sheet layers, and understand how to organize and access resources within the Resource Manager.

.Additional information:

The course includes ten instructional sessions delivered over two consecutive days—five lessons each day. Each session lasts approximately one hour, followed by a short break; the third session each day is followed by a one-hour lunch. Both days conclude with a hands-on workshop, giving participants time to apply concepts and receive personalized feedback from the instructor.

Note

Lunch, coffee, and snacks will be provided for all attendees.

A limited number of iMac computers preloaded with the current Vectorworks software will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Workshop participants who want to work on their machine must bring their laptop computer with Vectorworks 2026 software installed. The software may either be your registered license, or you may obtain and install a functional evaluation copy before arriving for the course. We will not issue refunds due to malfunctions of software installed on personal laptops. The course instructor is not available or responsible for troubleshooting or servicing personal laptops, nor is the trainer responsible for technical problems experienced during the course due to individual computer hardware or software malfunctions. Detailed information on downloading the software will be emailed and found in your registration confirmation.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Due to limited seating, class registration fees are non-refundable. However, upon request, your purchase can be used to purchase a future class. Classes may be subject to cancellation. Cancellations are determined by five (5) business days before the class starts. Registrants will be notified by email, and a full refund will be issued in the event of a cancellation.
