Description

This hands-on class will use Vectorworks Spotlight Cable tools to layout power distribution and cabling to existing light plots. Attendees will add distributors, cables, data tags, worksheets, and more to create the paperwork to communicate with their crew. Using the schematic layouts, familiar to ConnectCAD users, attendees will calculate the power needs for the light plot and create labels for cables and distributors.

  • Set up power distribution systems using distributors and schematic layouts

  • Connect devices and create automatic cable runs

  • Create and customize cable styles with data tags and visual properties

  • Generate cable reports and worksheets for crew communication

  • Calculate power requirements and manage cable inventory

  • Export cable documentation for production use

 

Prerequisites

This is not a beginner-level class. Attendees must have a general understanding of Vectorworks basic drafting concepts and basic entertainment power distribution. Completion of the following courses is highly recommended:

 

Additional Information

Workshop participants must bring their laptop and have Vectorworks 2026 installed. The software can be your registered license or a functional evaluation copy you obtain and install before the course. We will not issue refunds for software issues on personal laptops. The course instructor is not responsible for troubleshooting or repairing personal laptops, nor for any technical problems caused by hardware or software malfunctions during the course. Detailed instructions for downloading the software will be emailed and are also available in your registration confirmation. 

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Due to limited seating, class registration fees are non-refundable. However, upon request, your purchase can be applied toward a future class. Classes may be subject to cancellation. Cancellations must be made at least five (5) business days prior to the class start date. Registrants will be notified by email, and a full refund will be issued if the cancellation is made.
