VECTORWORKS CORE CONCEPTS & ARCHITECT TRAINING

July 21–24, 2026 | VANCOUVER, BC

VECTORWORKS CORE CONCEPTS

Audience: All Industries
Date: July 21–22, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PDT
Cost: CAD $1,139 Special $911
Location: BCIT, Downtown Campus - 555 Seymour Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 3H6

This two-day Vectorworks training class is designed for new users from any industry. If you’re an existing user who is self-taught but feels there are gaps in your knowledge, this class is also a great fit for you.

This course helps you build core skills and confidence in Vectorworks through a structured, hands-on curriculum. You’ll work with fundamental concepts, tools, and commands that apply across disciplines—whether you focus on buildings and interiors, landscapes, or events and entertainment.

On the first day, you’ll be introduced to the user interface and basic 2D operations, learning how to create and edit objects while keeping your files organized and your documentation efficient. On the second day, you’ll explore 3D modeling, navigate the Vectorworks resource libraries, and practice importing DWGs, PDFs, and images into your projects.

Learning Objectives

We hope you can join us for this valuable learning experience. By the end of the class, you will be able to:

  • Use essential tools and commands to create and edit 2D and 3D objects.
  • Organize your drawings using classes, layers, and viewports.
  • Navigate default resource libraries and deploy ready-made assets that enhance your designs.
  • Import and manage external documents such as DWGs, PDFs, and images to provide context and jump-start your projects.
  • Annotate and publish a coordinated set of 2D and 3D views of your project.

Prerequisites

  • A basic understanding of drafting concepts—such as drawing plans and elevations—is recommended. This background will help you focus on learning Vectorworks rather than on the underlying drawing principles.
  • Laptop with an activated license of Vectorworks 2026. Upon request, a temporary evaluation license can be issued for use during this class.

Additional Information

This two-day course consists of ten instructional sessions, each approximately one hour long—five sessions on the first day and five on the second. Each session is followed by a 10‑minute break, except the third session of each day, which is followed by a one‑hour lunch. Both days conclude with a workshop session, giving you time to practice independently and receive feedback from the instructor.

VECTORWORKS ARCHITECT

Date: July 23–24, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM PDT
Cost: CAD $1,139 Special $911
Location: BCIT, Downtown Campus - 555 Seymour Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 3H6

This two-day, in-person training is ideal for new users adopting a hybrid 2D/3D workflow in Vectorworks Architect or Design Suite. You’ll gain a strong foundation in industry-specific tools such as walls, doors, windows, slabs, stairs, railings, and roofs—while learning how these elements integrate into a unified modelling and documentation process.

Vectorworks offers powerful tools for architectural design and documentation, helping you move smoothly from concept to coordinated drawings. This training introduces a unified modeling and documentation workflow, equipping you with practical strategies for managing change and maintaining consistency across your projects.

Through ten focused lessons, you’ll build skills step by step—from understanding the relationship between object styles and story levels to working with walls, doors, windows, slabs, roofs, and more. On the first day, we’ll establish fundamentals and develop floor plan layouts; on the second, we’ll build on modeling skills and focus on project coordination and documentation.

By the end of the course, you’ll know how to create, organize, and publish coordinated building models, helping you work more efficiently and confidently in Vectorworks.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use the Building Shell tools and AEC commands to model and document buildings within a unified workflow.
  • Modify objects to accurately represent real-world design conditions.
  • Create and coordinate custom resources that support consistent results.
  • Apply story levels and object associations to develop projects efficiently.
  • Produce precise, coordinated drawings using documentation tools that reduce rework and errors.

Prerequisites

  • Participants should be comfortable navigating the Vectorworks interface and using basic 2D tools and commands. Completing the Vectorworks Core Concepts in-person course or the Vectorworks Core Associate Certification on-demand course is recommended preparation.
  • Attendees should already know how to use the Navigation palette to create and manage classes, design layers, viewports, and sheet layers, and understand how to organize and access resources within the Resource Manager.
  • Laptop with an activated license of Vectorworks Landmark or Design Suite 2026. Upon request, a temporary evaluation license can be issue for use during this class.

Additional Information

The course includes ten instructional sessions delivered over two consecutive days—five lessons each day. Each session lasts approximately one hour, followed by a short break; the third session each day is followed by a one-hour lunch. Both days conclude with a hands-on workshop, giving participants time to apply concepts and receive personalized feedback from the instructor.
