Description 

This intensive, hands-on one-day course provides a solid introduction to Vectorworks for Entertainment Rigging. The Braceworks™ add-on module for Vectorworks Spotlight and Designer allows design, production, and rigging professionals to gauge the performance of temporary suspended structures under load. Learn how to model and present a design and conduct structural analyses on suspended system loads. Attendees will also explore how to create a 3D data model and generate rigging plans, documentation, and design presentations.

Learning Objectives

  • Create and configure 3D rigging models in Vectorworks Spotlight using trusses, hoists, and load objects to represent realistic suspended systems.
  • Apply and manage loads within Braceworks to evaluate the structural performance of rigging systems under various design conditions.
  • Interpret and validate Braceworks analysis results to ensure compliance with safety standards and rigging best practices.
  • Produce professional rigging documentation and presentation materials, including load reports, rigging plans, and annotated 3D views for design approval or client communication.

Prerequisites

  • THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER CLASS. Attendees must be comfortable drafting in a 3D environment and have a general understanding of entertainment rigging.

Additional Information

Workshop participants are required to bring their laptop computer and Vectorworks 2026 software installed. The software may either be your registered license, or you may obtain and install a functional evaluation copy before arriving for the course. We will not issue refunds due to software malfunctions on personal laptops. The course instructor is not available or responsible for troubleshooting or servicing personal laptops, nor is the trainer responsible for technical problems experienced during the course due to individual computer hardware or software malfunctions. Detailed information on downloading the software will be emailed and found in your registration confirmation. 

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Due to limited seating, class registration fees are non-refundable. However, upon request, your purchase can be used towards purchasing a future class. Classes may be subject to cancellation. Cancellations are determined by five (5) business days before the class starts. Registrants will be notified by email, and a full refund will be issued in the event of a cancellation.
