Location: 8621 Robert Fulton Dr Suite 200, Columbia, MD 21046, United States
Audience
This two-day, in-person Vectorworks training is designed for new users from any industry who want a solid foundation in the software. It is also well-suited for self-taught users who suspect there are gaps in their knowledge and want a more systematic approach.
Description
This course helps you build core skills and confidence in Vectorworks through a structured, hands-on curriculum. You’ll work with fundamental concepts, tools, and commands that apply across disciplines—whether you focus on buildings and interiors, landscapes, or events and entertainment.
On the first day, you’ll be introduced to the user interface and basic 2D operations, learning how to create and edit objects while keeping your files organized and your documentation efficient. On the second day, you’ll explore 3D modeling, navigate the Vectorworks resource libraries, and practice importing DWGs, PDFs, and images into your projects.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Use essential tools and commands to create and edit 2D and 3D objects.
- Organize your drawings using classes, layers, and viewports.
- Navigate default resource libraries and deploy ready-made assets that enhance your designs.
- Import and manage external documents such as DWGs, PDFs, and images to provide context and jump-start your projects.
- Annotate and publish a coordinated set of 2D and 3D views of your project.
Prerequisites
A basic understanding of drafting concepts, such as drawing plans and elevations, is recommended. This background will help you focus on learning Vectorworks rather than on the underlying drawing principles.
Additional Information
This two-day course consists of ten instructional sessions, each approximately one hour long—five sessions on the first day and five on the second. Each session is followed by a 10‑minute break, except the third session of each day, which is followed by a one‑hour lunch. Both days conclude with a workshop session, giving you time to practice independently and receive feedback from the instructor.
