Description

Take the next step and elevate your design process with our Intermediate Concepts class. In this interactive course, you will build upon the 2D drafting skills learned in the Core Concepts class. You will learn how to use Vectorworks’ powerful 3D modeling, interoperability, geolocation, rendering, and data management capabilities to improve your design workflow.

This course dives into best practices for working with imported files such as PDFs and DWGs, configuring projects to take advantage of the geographical information system (GIS) features of Vectorworks software, and how to harness Vectorworks’ powerful 3D modeling capabilities to visualize your designs. In addition, you will learn how to present your designs by utilizing texturing and rendering techniques and then extract and analyze data with built-in worksheets and schedules.

Learning Objectives

  • Manage imported DWG and PDF files through import settings, visibility controls, and other attribute preferences to improve file exchanges with project collaborators.

  • Utilize Vectorworks’ GIS features for site and design geolocation.
  • Produce 3D modeled objects, appropriately mapped with material image textures to analyze for appropriate scale and assembly of materials, using various lighting techniques, rendering styles, and static and perspective views to ensure proof of concept.
  • Utilize built-in worksheets and schedules to analyze data extracted from your design.
